DOM'S NOTE TO THE TROOPS

Caroline Chief Hails Two #1 Albums From the Distribbery

Caroline’s Dom Pandiscia and team have been having a nice couple of weeks. The head of Capitol Music Group’s indie wing issued this memo to his extended crew today commemorating two Caroline-distribbed #1 albums: this week’s win by Alabama Shakes (ATO) and the recent chart-topping first week for Hopeless RecordsAll Time Low.

To everyone in the Caroline/CMG family,

I want to take this moment to acknowledge some great achievements that two of our partner labels and their artists have experienced of late. With the release of today’s charts, Alabama Shakes have rocked their way to #1 with their brilliant new album, Sound & Color. Not only is the album one of the most critically acclaimed and talked-about albums of the year, audiences have responded in kind: the album has sold 95,946 copies in its first week.

Our partners at ATO Records epitomize artist development, and their dedication to Alabama Shakes was integral to this auspicious start. Please join me in congratulating the band and our friends at ATO who have done a tremendous job presenting the Shakes’ great music to the public. Let’s also extend additional kudos to the label for achieving its first #1 album in its 15-year history.

Two weeks ago, we were thrilled to share in a great debut from All Time Low, who hit the #1 spot on the Top Albums chart, selling 75,000 copies of their album, Future Hearts. Our partners at Hopeless Records have been working with this band for nearly 10 years - while its members were still in high school —and the label’s commitment to All Time Low is exemplified in this great showing. Please join me in congratulating All Time Low and our friends at Hopeless on such a great start, and for scoring their first #1 album since forming the label 22 years ago.

The #1 debuts of these two albums are only the latest examples of great partnerships that Caroline has forged with the independent label community. We strive to provide great support for our partners, and we are so proud to share in their success and achievements.

This year is off to a great start, and there are lots more to come.
