REPUBLIC CORPS’ Spangler and Lucas take top honors on the last T40 add board of the year as they impact TWICE’s "Strategy" f/Megan Thee Stallion (JYP/Imperial/Republic) with 41 adds out of the box. REPUBLIC also has three others in the Top 10: Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club" (Island) with 26 adds, Cynthia Erivo's "Defying Gravity" f/Ariana Grande (UniPics/Verve/Republic) and Gigi Perez's "Sailor Song" (Island) with 12 additional adds. Meanwhile, ICLG's Marella crew has three tracks in the Top 10 Most Added, with Gracie Abrams' "That's so True" (Interscope) picking up 26 adds, Kendrick Lamar & SZA's "luther" (pgLang/Interscope) grabbing 15 adds and Lamar's "Squabble Up" (pgLang/Interscope) securing 15 adds. Warner's Chester & Reich squad put 18 early adds on Teddy Swims' "Bad Dreams.” Enjoy the holidays!
The question for the final T40 chart of the year is will RCA's Team Rothschild remain in the top spot with Myles Smith's "Stargazing" or will REPUBLIC’s Spangler and Lucas slide Sabrina Carpenter's "Taste" (Island) up to end the year with the #1? Atlantic's Bedard has ROSÉ & Bruno Mars' "APT." joining the Top 10. ICLG's Marella squad moves Gracie Abrams' "That's so True" to the Top 20, which now sits alongside her other track "Close to You.” And debuting on the chart for this final week will be Atlantic's The Marías' with "No One Noticed.”
REPUBLIC CORPS' Spangler & Lucas have four of the Top 10 Most Added this week, including tying for the top of the add board. Ariana Grande's "Popular" (UniPics/Verve/Republic) pulled in 26 more adds, as did ICLG's Team Marella with Gracie Abrams' "That's so True" (Interscope). The other three REPUBLIC songs are Cynthia Erivo's "Defying Gravity" f/Ariana Grande (Uni Pics/Verve/Republic) with 18 adds, Gigi Perez's "Sailor Song" (Island) with nine adds and The Weeknd’s "Timeless" f/Playboi Carti with eight adds. Atlantic's Bedard crew has two tracks in the Top 10, posting 20 adds on Jack Harlow's "Hello Miss Johnson" and 10 adds on Alex Warren's "Burning Down.” RCA's Rothschild squad puts 10 more adds on LISA's "Moonlit Floor” (Lloud Co.), and ICLG's second entry in the Top 10 is Kendrick Lamar's "Squabble Up" (pgLang/Interscope), which grabs nine early adds.
On 12/1, CBS Sunday Morning ran journalist Mo Rocca’s feature story on Elvis Duran, bringing viewers in-studio at Z100, Duran’s home in Santa Fe and behind the scenes at Jingle Ball at Madison Square Gardens.
“[Duran] a rarity these days, a nationally known radio personality,” says Rocca.
“Radio isn't what radio used to be. A lot of radio companies gave up on personalities; they just wanted to play music, it's cheaper. That's not good for our business. So, I've done everything I can to keep personality on a radio show in the mornings... we are in the friendship business,” added Duran, who hosts Elvis Duran and the Morning Show—the most listened to Top 40 morning show in the U.S.—on NY’s Z100 every weekday from 6-10am.
When asked about his legacy, Duran states, “I don’t want them to remember my name, I just want them to remember how we made them feel every day. That’s it.”
