Sony Music Publishing will expand its footprint in Asia with the launch of SMP Thailand, which makes the group the first international publisher to have a dedicated local team providing full publishing services in that country.
SMP has appointed Bangkok-based Tatchara Longprasert as general manager of SMP TH, effective immediately. He will report to Carol Ng, president, Asia, SMP. Prior to joining SMP, Longprasert served as A&R Director at Sonray Music, and has held positions at roles at Warner Music Thailand and BEC World PLC (Thai Television Channel 3).
Longprasert said, “I am very excited to be a part of this new journey in Thailand, which will allow us to support local talent whilst expanding their global network. This is a significant step, and we are proud to contribute to the ongoing growth of the Thai creative community.”
Ng added, “Thailand has a rich tapestry of sounds and stories. With the fast-paced growth of Thai repertoire, more and more artists are looking for a dedicated music publishing company, with high value global networks and expertise, to look after the publishing side of their work.”
