Sony Music Publishing is preparing to launch its inaugural songwriting camp in West Africa.
Taking place in Accra, Ghana from 1/5-12, the SMP Ghana Camp is spearheaded by Wale Davies, Head of A&R, Africa, and will bring together songwriters like Tems, Ladipoe, Lojay, Guiltybeatz, Ozedikus, AV, Berwyn, Moon Willis, Johnny Coffer, Rymez and more.
“As a Nigerian myself it has always been a goal of mine to build bridges between the continent and the rest of the globe, and I am grateful for this opportunity to cultivate the future of music with SMP,” said Davies.
“This camp is a part of Sony Music Publishing’s commitment to African songwriters and the continent. I am delighted to be a part of this important effort to build meaningful connections between African composers and artists, as well as the international music market,” added SMP Managing Director, Nigeria, Godwin Tom.
The SMP Ghana Camp will also coincide with Detty December, which is celebrated across Ghana and Nigeria with various concerts and festivities. Speaking of the holidays, pass the eggnog.
