Downtown Music Services has inked Arca, aka Alejandra Ghersi Rodriguez, to a a global publishing admin deal.

A Venezuelan, non-binary trans woman based in Barcelona, Rodriguez has released 12 projects under Arca with four of them issued in the KiCk album series, which earned a nom for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2021 Latin Grammys and Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2021 Grammys.

“From her work as a writer producer with global superstars, to her own recent cycle of recordings, Arca is redefining what it means to be an artist,” said Mike Smith, Global President of Downtown Music Services.

As a producer, Arca’s credits include tracks on Kanye West’s Yeezus and FKA TwigsCaprisongs mixtape. She also produced/co-wrote Twigs’ 2013 EP2, Bjork’s Vulnicara and Utopia, remixed Lady Gaga’s “Rain on Me” f/Ariana Grande, contributed music to Red Dead Redemption 2 and composed/produced a music installation for N.Y.’s MoMA lobby.

Recently, she produced the music for and stars in Reebok's “Life Is Not a Spectator Sport” campaign, which features Allen Iverson, Brent Faiyaz, Ghetts and Lolo Zouai, and as a visual artist produced a series of algorithm-trained, multi-media, AI paintings for CIRCA.

“Downtown is as real as it gets,” said Arca. “Bless my team. It’s Legacy, Laurie and Lou, post punk, I’m expressing it: freedom.”
