Further confirming our thesis that rock is on the cusp of a big return—with female artists and fans leading the charge—Hipgnosis Songs Group and Big Family Music have inked Florida pop-punk trio Meet Me @ The Altar. The band, consisting of singer Edith Johnson, drummer Ada Juarez and guitarist/bassist Téa Campbell (pictured in that precise order above), met via YouTube six years back and have since crafted a sturdy, aggressive and melodic set of songs, several of which can be heard on their EP Model Citizen, which dropped on 8/13.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the ladies of MM@TA to the Hipgnosis/Big Family community, “reads a quote from Co-President Casey Robison. Co-President Damon Bunetta adds “They’re truly one of the most talented new bands redefining rock music today.”
After reading Robison's quote, the band members expressed their gratitude and added that if he called them "ladies" again they would use his face as a skateboard.
