RALEIGH IS "THE LION" KING
9/26/19

Raleigh Music, a boutique pubbery with offices on both coasts, has inked a deal for the catalog of Hugo Peretti, which notably boasts the timeless smash “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” as well as the Elvis Presley giant “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

Raleigh Music Group co-founder/partner Peter Raleigh describes Peretti as “a legendary songwriter who created works that speak to the elusive quality of love and the timeless rhythm of nature.”

“We are thrilled and excited to represent this incredible catalog. It’s a wonderful addition to our iconic roster of recognizable hit songs,” adds co-founder/partner Steven Storch.

“The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” adapted by Peretti and cohorts from the South African song “Mbube,” was something of a folk standard before it became a Pop hit for The Tokens in 1961. It's been covered countless times since, and earns regular film and TV syncs.

Founded in 2015, Raleigh reps iconic compositions by Presley, George Gershwin, Anthony Newley, Bo Diddley, America, Lords of the Underground, Jerry Ragovoy, Willy Deville, Lester Sill and Muhammad Ali, as well as contemporary writers such as composer Randy Edelman and singer-songwriter Melissa Ferrick.
