JODY'S TROPHIES
2/19/19

UMPG Chairman Jody Gerson, seen here with writer and Island star Shawn Mendes at Sir Lucian’s pre-Grammy showcase, has a lot to celebrate. For one thing, there’s her pubco’s very big Grammy night: Best New Artist (Dua Lipa), Best R&B Performance/Album (H.E.R.), Best Pop Vocal Album (Ariana Grande), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (Bradley Cooper) and two Contemporary Christian trophies (Lauren Daigle) and more.

Grande, meanwhile, is one of the biggest music stories in recent memory, and her monster new #1 Republic set recently helped Casa Jody claim the entire Top 14 on Spotify’s U.S. Top 50 and the Top 11 on the Global chart. The chart has shifted a bit since then, but Unit continues to dominate; Ari's Republic labelmate Post Malone, Dreamville/Roc Nation/Interscope’s J. Cole and the rocketing Billie Eilish (Darkroom/Interscope) are also streaming up a storm.

Then there’s the company’s spectacular $1.1 billion showing in the latest UMG financials. The House of Gerson is in the catbird seat as the pub world prepares for a series of big changes. What’s next?
