BMAC ANNOUNCES GRAMMY WEEK FUNDRAISER

The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will host the third annual BMAC x Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Music Maker Grants event on 1/29 as part of the "ReStore & ReBuild LA" fundraiser.

Powered by ASCAP and the Wasserman Foundation, the event will raise money for the BMAC LA Fire Relief Fund to aid residents and small businesses impacted by the wildfires while simultaneously recognizing emerging Black music talents selected for the Music Maker Grants.

Launched in 2023 to honor Jam and Lewis's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, the Music Maker Grant program aims to support Black music producers and songwriters across the U.S.

BMAC President/CEO Willie "Prophet" Stiggers emphasized the event's dual focus on celebrating future music industry talents and raising critical funds for LA fire relief, particularly for Black residents and businesses.

"We hope to address immediate needs of LA residents, support local businesses and musicians in need of revenue," Prophet said, "and to continue our ongoing work to create access and opportunities for the the next generation of songwriters, producers and Artists, emphasizing the importance of not only restoring businesses and rebuilding homes, but restoring hope and rebuilding the spirit.”

Jam and Lewis, meanwhile, highlighted the healing power of music during adversity, encouraging young musicians to inspire recovery through their art. Head here to donate to the BMAC LA Fire Relief Fund as the L.A. community begins the arduous task of rebuilding.
