With Election Day on Tuesday (11/5), the Black Music Action Coalition is mounting a bus tour across the swing state of Georgia to galvanize voters. Buoyed by the slogan “It’s Your Fight… VOTE,” the advocacy org is picking up voters and taking them to the polls, among other actions.
BMAC's custom coach is emblazoned with song lyrics, including those to "U.N.I.T.Y." by Queen Latifah, "DNA" by Kendrick Lamar and "Fight the Power" by Public Enemy.
Said BMAC CEO/President Willie "Prophet" Stiggers, "We chose the words of artists who've moved the needle through music to adorn our bus and the image of the great truth teller Muhammad Ali to be its face as we move through Georgia, fueled by the power of voters. BMAC is steadfast in our commitment to use the power of our voice to make positive, long-lasting change. It’s Our Fight… VOTE.”
Other BMAC election events have included activations at last weekend's ONEMusic Fest and Tuesday's “Celebration of Democracy” brunch/panel discussion. Pictured fighting the power with Georgia student voters is Stiggers (far left).
