“BETTY” MAKES THREE (UPDATE)

It's now official: “betty,” a track from Taylor Swift’s folklore, will be the vehicle for her return to Country radio. The track had been getting spins since Tuesday on stations in markets including Tulsa, Nashville and New York, according to Mediabase, and the airplay wasn't random: MCA Nashville will work the track starting 8/17.

Kerry Wolfe, SVP Programming for iHeart Milwaukee, shook up Swifty Nation Wednesday with a tweet stating, “‘Betty'” is the single coming to country radio. It’s been a minute since she sent one to us.” He followed it with a retweet of an endorsement from Blake Shelton, which reads, “By the way to those asking.. I like Betty the best off Folklore. 3 reasons. It’s pretty country, it’s my dogs name. AND it drops the F bomb. Triple threat.”

Taylor will have three tracks simultaneously in play, with “cardigan” at Top 40 and “exile” at Triple A. “betty” is the first track worked at Country since the seasonal “New Year’s Day” in 2017. She completed her transition to Pop radio with 2014’s 1989.
