KEN BURNS DOC GETS A SOUNDTRACK

Sony Legacy, in association with Universal Music Group, will release a five-CD box set soundtrack to Country Music - A Film By Ken Burns on 8/30.

Legacy will also release multiple sets associated the documentary airing on PBS including two-CD, two-LP and digital configurations of the multi-artist album on 9/13. Walmart will carry a single CD version and Barnes & Noble will have an exclusive red, white & blue vinyl album that includes a signed certification of authenticity from Ken Burns.

The eight-part documentary premieres 9/15.

Disc One covers the period up to 1945 and includes performances from The Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Charlie Poole with the North Carolina Ramblers, and Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys.

Disc Two runs from 1945 to 1963 and features essential recordings by Hank Williams, Little Brenda Lee, Johnny Cash & the Tennessee Two, The Everly Brothers, Ray Charles and others. Disc Three showcases recordings from 1964 to 1972 and includes Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson, Bob Dylan with Johnny Cash, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and others.

Disc Four, (1973-1983), features Dolly Parton, Townes Van Zandt, Gram Parsons, Willie Nelson and others while Disc Five covers 1973 to 1996 with Ricky Skaggs, Reba McEntire, Dwight Yoakam and more.
