JIMMIE ALLEN GETS HONEST
6/22/22

BBR/Stoney Creek’s Jimmie Allen recently joined TalkShopLive's Madison Brodsky for a wide-ranging interview.

During the conversation, Allen spoke about his most recent album, Tulip Drive—the first record, he notes, to love “every song top to bottom”—and how its inspiration came during the pandemic, as well as his recent collaboration with JLo, future dream collaborations, living with bipolar disease and more.

As a JLo fan, Allen was quick to jump on the opportunity to work with his former Idol judge. “A friend of mine works with her camp and he reached out and said, 'Hey, we're doing a remix of JLo songs. She did ‘On My Way’ from the Marry Me movie, would you wanna do it?' I was like, 'Yeah, of course bro',” shared Allen, who also notes Ciara, Carly Pearce, Stevie Wonder, DJ Khaled and Garth Brooks among his dream collaborations.

On the topic of Juneteenth and breaking barrier in Country music, Allen says: “With it being Juneteenth and celebrating freedom, I feel like at a certain extent, pretty much it's impossible to say America the free, if we have people that aren't.” He continues, “My focus is to make music that people can connect to, and I feel like when focusing on the music first, it allowed me to step into places where my music was accepted, and I just happened to be black doing it.”

Throughout the interview, Allen also offered viewers a pre-order of autographed copies of Tulip Drive, due on 6/24.
