As legend has it, Elvis Presley sings Arthur Crudup’s “That’s All Right” at Sun Studios, Sam Phillips can’t believe his luck, keeps the tape rolling, sells the contract to RCA and the rest is history.

Well, what about the six songs Elvis recorded before “That’s All Right”? What if the 1987 release The Complete Sun Sessions wasn’t quite…complete?

Sony Legacy/RCA has compiled 85 of Presley’s earliest recordings in the three-CD set Elvis Presley - A Boy From Tupelo - The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings being released 7/28. The album, which brings together tracks that have appeared on numerous compilations, includes 16 live/radio broadcast recordings that have never seen the light of day; among the newly discovered recordings is "I Forgot To Remember To Forget" from the 10/29/55 Louisiana Hayride broadcast.

It’s the first time a collection contains every known Elvis Presley Sun Records master and outtake, plus the Memphis Recording Service acetates of "My Happiness," "That's When Your Heartaches Begin," "I'll Never Stand in Your Way" and "It Wouldn't Be the Same (Without You)" that Elvis paid to record.

A Boy From Tupelo includes a 120-page book formatted as an illustrated travelogue and datebook chronicling the genesis of Elvis’ early career via facts, anecdotes, memorabilia and rare photos.

Legacy Recordings will also release on 7/28 A Boy From Tupelo: The Sun Masters, a single LP of Elvis’ A and B-sides recorded for Sun Records, plus songs recorded at Sun and released on his debut album in 1956.
