Young the Giant will get back to their club roots in October with a two-night underplay at the Troubadour in Los Angeles—a stand that sold out in spectacular fashion.
Dubbed "a special anniversary event," the 10/13-14 gigs went clean in a matter of minutes. Per the venue, a queue of 10.5k fans—the largest in Troubadour history—were waiting to purchase the allotment of 500 tickets per night, which they did in less than 30 minutes.
The shows will offer a front-to-back performance of Young the Giant's gold-certified 2010 self-titled debut on night one, and a full airing of their sophomore outing Mind Over Matter the next. That album was reissued in honor of its 10th anniversary last week by WEA/Fueled by Ramen.
The Cali-bred quintet, which is handled by Activist Artists Management founding partner Matt Maher, is currently on tour with Cage the Elephant.
After depositing his surprise new album into the shopping bags of unsuspecting customers at his Third Man Records stores in Nashville, Detroit and London two weekends ago, Jack White has revealed a wider release for the project, which is still called NO NAME.
The 13-track set will materialize on DSPs on Friday (8/2), while a blue vinyl edition will be available tomorrow at Third Man stores and the following day at select indie retailers. A black vinyl variant is being sold online only through Third Man and White's web sites.
NO NAME was recorded, produced and mixed by White at his Third Man Studio over the past year and change. It's the follow-up to his twin 2022 albums Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive. But on NO NAME, White ditches the experimentation and returns to his sweet spot: raw-boned, Zeppelin-inspired rock & roll.
The announcement contained the cover art—yup, Jack remains in his blue period—and track names following a burst of imaginative guesswork from hard-core fans unsatisfied with “JW_NO_NAME_A_01,” etc. The official titles are...

Following a show tonight in Atlanta, White will head abroad for four August festival dates filling in for the ailing Queens of the Stone Age. The artist is booked by Robby Fraser (U.S.) and Russell Warby (international) at WME. His longtime manager is Ian Montone.
Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart has collaborated with Terrapin Station Entertainment on a combined art exhibit and digital auction from today until 8/3 in conjunction with the Dead & Co. Dead Forever Experience at the Sphere in Vegas. In related news, Jerry Garcia’s birthday is this Thursday, 8/1.
Bids on four of Hart’s pieces, including “Da Bolt” (pictured)—on display at the Venetian as part of “Mickey Hart’s Art at the Edge of Magic” exhibit—can be placed at EdgeOfMagicAuction.com. The exhibit closes on 8/11.
For a detailed examination of the Dead & Company’s Vegas residency, read Nick Paumgarten’s “Reckoning with the Dead at the Sphere” in The New Yorker. Highly recommended.
