Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne, Rosanne Cash and others performed at The Concert Across America to End Gun Violence Sunday night in New York, one of more than 350 events across the U.S. to honor victims of gun violence and to make gun violence prevention a voting issue in the November elections.

Browne, Cash, Marc Cohn, Joan Osborne and Vedder performed at New York’s Beacon Theater; Moby joined the L.A. show at The Standard downtown that featured Carnie Wilson and Ryan Cabrera.

"Together we have power,” Vedder told the Beacon crowd. “If we rise to the challenge to unite and support sensible gun violence prevention measures in our cities and our towns, then we have the power to save lives. Let's use our power for good."

Most of the other events were less star-oriented. An inmate choir at San Quentin State Prison was led by a member of Rabbis Against Gun Violence; a jazz barbecue was held at the United Hill Congregational Church in Philadelphia; middle school students in Gloucester, Mass., played to a packed venue of teens; and in Hawaii, the state with the lowest gun death rate in the country, the concert series kicked off with a special sunrise Hawaiian Aloha chant performed by the Prince Dance Theatre at the Kahilu Theatre.
