The rollout of vinyl editions of one of popular music’s most iconic catalogs—the 14 core albu
ms of Pink Floyd—will begin 6/2 with the release of the British band’s first four albums via its new deal with Sony Music and Max Lousada’s Warner Music UK, which will release the albums in the U.K. and Europe. Sony will handle the releases in North America and the rest of the world.
The roll-out will go chronologically, starting with the Syd Barrett and early David Gilmour records The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, A Saucerful of Secrets, More and Ummagumma . All will be released in their original packaging on 180gram vinyl; longtime collaborator James Guthrie handled the mastering with Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman.
It will be the first time in 20 years these titles are available on vinyl.
The second batch will be released September/October and would most likely include Atom Heart Mother and Dark Side of the Moon. Sony has not released a timetable for the release of the other LPs, which include The Wall, Animals and Wish You Were Here.
