BLUE IS BACK
2/24/16

Blue Man Group will release their first studio album in 13 years, THREE, on 4/22. Rhino Records will release the album from the trio celebrating 25 years together this year.

THREE contains 14 instrumental tracks created on instruments the trio has developed for their stage shows and scores. Among the new instruments are the Snorkelbone, a plastic hose swung in the air to produce a whirring, pulsating tone; a didgeridoo-like instrument made from PVC; and the Chimeulum, which the band describes as “orchestral chimes on steroids.”

Rhino has released the first single, “Giacometti,” and a video for the song has been posted on Blue Man Group’s YouTube channel.

The new album features collaborations with Brazilian percussionist Marivaldo Dos Santos (“Hex Suit” and “Torus”), Super Natsuki Tamura on sliding didgeridoo (“Giacometti”), DJ Mike Relm (“3 to 1”) and Yusuke Yamamoto on vibraphone (“Hex Suit” and “Robots”).

Created 25 years ago by Chris Wink, Phil Stanton and Matt Goldman as a unique wordless theatrical experience filled with music and visual tomfoolery, Blue Man Group has permanent theatrical productions in Las Vegas, Orlando, Boston, Chicago, New York and Berlin, plus North American and world tours.
