WHAT IT IS: Toronto-based collective New West made a splash with their first-ever release, “Those Eyes.” With its lo-fi acoustic guitar, dreamy piano, lullaby melody and quotable play-by-play of a relationship in full bloom, the track popped off on TikTok before hitting streaming platforms and catching the attention of listeners on a global scale. Between the original and its “sped-up” version, the single has clocked over 150m Spotify streams, landing on both the Global and Viral U.S. charts. New West’s debut album will arrive later this year.
