WHAT IT IS: In the three years since indie-pop quartet The Aces released their debut album, When My Heart Felt Volcanic, they’ve sold out a headlining U.S. tour, supported the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer, COIN and X Ambassadors, as well as documenting everything inbetween in the songs that would make up 2020’s Under My Influence. Consisting of sisters Cristal and Alisa Ramirez (vocals/guitar and drums), McKenna Petty (bass) and Katie Henderson (lead guitar/vocals), the group returned with “Don’t Freak” in 2021, inspired by their own experiences with mental health stigmas, before being featured on the Hulu reality competition series Exposure.
