WHAT IT IS: Paradise, Calif., native Nate Smith spent his adolescent years honing his craft and assimilating a melting pot of influences including Elvis, Garth Brooks, Bob Seger, Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac into his own unique sound. Following a devastating fire in his hometown, Smith penned “One of These Days” before releasing his viral track “Wildfire,” which landed him publishing, management and record deals. Just a week after inking to Sony Music Nashville, Smith dropped “I Don’t Wanna Go to Heaven,” which led to a choir version and another featuring Tenille Townes. The country crooner released his highly anticipated follow-up, “Whiskey on You,” on 5/6, which amassed 7.5m+ global on-demand streams first week and reached #10 on the Country On-Demand Streaming chart. The track also debuted at #84 on the Hot 100 and #14 on the Hot Country Songs chart, marking Smith’s first career entry on the chart.
