Hailing from China, LAY—aka Lay Zhang—has dropped his latest single “Bee with You” via Zhang Yixing Studio.
Having co-written the lyrics and composition, LAY integrates Chinese instruments and cultural metaphors in the R&B laden track while showcasing his smooth flow between English and Mandarin.
Dedicating the track to his fans, it arrives nine years after his debut in the K-pop group EXO and is the latest in a series of releases, including 2020’s LIT and his recent EP FAST, which all featured his standout “M-Pop” sound.
He also collaborated with Steve Aoki and will.i.am last year for the cross-cultural hit “Love You More”—which reached #1 on the QQ Music China chart—and he became the first Chinese artist to enter the iTunes’ Top 60 in the U.S. with his third solo album, NAMANANA.
In addition to his music career, LAY recently launched his own management company and has various Chinese films and TV shows in the pipeline.
