Toronto-born independent artist ari hicks has released her first single of 2021, “Everyone is Disappointing.” The edgy pop track is produced by Troy Samuela and is an unapologetic call-out to the songstress’ previous disappointing relationships.

With hicks’ enchanting vocals over a plucking guitar riff, the anthemic track is laden with moody synths, a horn-laced production and is the self-empowerment single you didn’t know you needed.

“This song is a total eye-roll at that random ‘what’s up’ text from the guy who ghosted you a month ago. Need I say more?” Shared hicks.

Additionally, hicks dropped an accompanying music video. Directed by Nicole Davis, the colorful and quirky video is filled with all-too-familiar examples those disappointing people.

“’Everyone is Disappointing’ is built to be an anthem, one that honestly brings a little fun to the idea of having to deal with disappointing men or women for that matter. We definitely took that and ran with it for this video, poking fun at some of those wonderful stereotypes you’ve most likely encountered if you relate to this song,” added hicks.

“Everyone is Disappointing” follows an impressive 2020 for hicks, who released back-to-back EPs IDIOT GRL and Kiss Me, Kill Me. With over 5m combined streams and a partnership with Live Nation (Ones to Watch), hicks has solidified herself as an artist to watch this year.
