Brighton rock-duo Royal Blood have returned with their latest single, “Trouble’s Coming.” The track is the first to arrive from their forthcoming third studio album, which is due sometime next spring.
With a unique rock sound that’s influenced by the likes of Daft Punk, Justice and the late Phillipe Zdar, the single offers a glimpse of what to expect with the upcoming album, infusing a disco-tinged rhythm with the hard rock elements Royal Blood is known for.
“It was the moment something started to click - where we started playing over those much more rigid dance beats. The breakthrough was realizing that there was real common ground between that and what we’d done before,” says vocalist/bassist Mike Kerr.
The duo have scored two U.K. #1 albums with their self-titled double-Platinum debut in 2014 and their 2017 album, How Did We Get So Dark?, and have won a BRIT Award for Best British Group, NME and Kerrang! Awards as well as a Mercury Prize. Their U.S. success includes three #1 hits at Rock Radio and four Top 20 hits at Alternative Radio.
Royal Blood’s most recent U.K. and Ireland headline tour included performing in front of 100k people as well as three sold-out nights at London’s Alexandra Palace. They’ve also played key festivals like Glastonbury, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Reading and Leeds and a tour with Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters.
