After a seven-year break, Arts & Crafts’ Broken Social Scene hit the road in support of their latest album, Hug of Thunder—their first LP since 2010’s Forgiveness Rock Record. The band kicked off their tour on 3/23 in Austin, Texas and wrapped up the 12-date U.S. tour on 4/8 in Montclair, New Jersey.

I had a chance to see the band in the small town of Huntington, New York on 4/7. After years apart, the duo performed at The Paramount, as if their paths had never separated. A few highlights from the show:

Lead male vocalist Kevin Drew amped up the crowd early on with talk of a better tomorrow. “Keep fighting the good fight,” he chanted.
The band carried on past traditions and dedicated 50 seconds for the crowd to scream as loud as possible, relieving any built-up tension.
Ariel Engle performed a solo song pulled off the duo’s upcoming album, The Force
The Belle Game joined Engle on stage for a chilling set of “Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl”

After subtle hints at a close release date, we anticipate the band's U.S. return soon after the Euro dates currently on their docket.
