SUMMERTIME'S COMING; TIME FOR TANLINES
5/20/15

Did you buy your copy of Tanlines' Highlights yet? If not, ya better believe you're in for a treat. The record was released Monday via True Panther and Matador and, naturally, I had to celebrate in style.

As part of the Nylon Guys 2015 Summer Music Tour, the fashion mag has been hosting a handful of the Brooklyn-bred duo's dates, including their Echoplex gig on release day. Photobooth pictures were taken, but I've banned their criminalizing presence from the internet, so you'll just have to take my word for it when I say I was there.

Set standouts included 2012 earworm "All of Me," — off debut full-length Mixed Emotions — along with newbies "Pieces" and "Slipping Away."

Put on your boogie shoes and listen to the latter (embedded below) for an uplifting fusion of electro-pop, new wave, psychadelic and alternative sounds. And if you're searching for a solid way to procrastinate during the work-day, poke around their interactive, Netflix-inspired website. It's pretty damn nifty.

If you do decide to buy the album, I highly recommend listening to it while smoking a blunt and cloud-gazing in your birthday suit. Really brings out all the auditory flavors.

xx,
Samantha Hissong
