WHAT IT IS: The songstress’ power lies not only in her striking, soulful voice, but also in what she conveys with it. Since she was six years old, the S.F.-born musician believed, no matter the naysayers, that she could create songs that would resonate with people. Her unique, evocative voice redefines the term “powerhouse,” infusing each word and lyrical phrase with emotionally charged meaning and weight. Rozzi, who performed anywhere and everywhere as she grew up, found a kindred spirit in Amy Winehouse, who fused soul and pop in a transformative way that inspired her as she wrote songs and played with local bands around the Bay Area.
