WCM GETS SWANKY
12/3/24

Warner Chappell Music and Alex Gaskarth of the band All Time Low have signed a joint-venture publishing deal with musician, songwriter and producer Dan Swank.

Swank has contributed to 60 releases this year alone across multiple genres, with his songs being recorded by Pale Waves, Knox, Taylor Acorn, Mitchell Tenpenny and Charlotte Sands, among others.

“Dan's vision as a songwriter is something truly special,” said WCM SVP A&R Katy Wolaver said. “It's an honor to welcome him to our Warner Chappell family and get to be part of this next chapter in his career."

Gaskarth added, “When I signed into the Warner Chappell system with Greg and Katy, I was welcomed into a collaborative, familial atmosphere, which in my experience, has always made for the best, most natural feeling environment. As a result, great music follows.

"I’m excited and honored to be growing our corner of the space by welcoming in my friend and collaborator Dan Swank as a writer and launching Sweet Heat Songs, which we will look to grow as we welcome in more writers and producers in the near future.”

MOANA 2 EYES BOX OFFICE TSUNAMI
11/26/24

The cast and crew behind Moana 2 celebrated the Walt Disney Animation Studio film's upcoming release with premieres in both Australia and New Zealand this week.

The sequel to 2016's Moana reunites Moana (voiced by Auli‘i Cravalho) and Maui (voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) for an all-new adventure. The film hits theaters nationwide on Wednesday (11/27) and is expected to fetch boffo numbers at the box office. Globally, it's looking at a launch total of $225m.

Moana 2 features music by Grammy-winning singer-songwriters Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nom Opetaia Foa‘i and 3x-Grammy winner Mark Mancina, who are certainly better singers than we are. Pictured bracing themselves for one of our glass-shattering high notes are (l-r) Temuera Morrison (voice of Chief Tui), Rachel House (voice of Gramma Tala), David Fane (voice of Kele), Awhimai Fraser (voice of Matangi) and Foa‘i.

ROSÉ ROCKS WITH WARNER CHAPPELL
11/25/24

With her Bruno Mars collab "APT." burning up charts all over the world, BLACKPINK's ROSÉ has inked a global admin deal with Warner Chappell Music.

"APT" will appear on the Auckland-born, Melbourne-raised artist's 12/6 solo debut, rosie (Atlantic). A second single from the set, "Number One Girl," was released last Friday (11/22).

"APT" is #1 at Spotify's Global Top 50 at the moment and #17 on the streamer's U.S. tally, the latter largely due to the influx of newly released Kendrick Lamar tracks.

“ROSÉ has earned this moment, and it’s a huge honor to officially welcome her to our Warner Chappell family," said WCM President, North America Ryan Press. "As she breaks record after record, she’s singlehandedly redefining the K-pop genre while also paving the way for a new era of cross-cultural expression."

Meanwhile, HITS will express ourselves by consuming a second bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
