UMPG has inked Mexican singer/songwriter Carla Morrison to an exclusive global publishing agreement, marking the first time that the two-time Grammy Award-winner has signed with a major music publisher.
The deal covers future releases as well as her full catalog, which includes her five studio albums.
Her 2012 album, Déjenme Llorar, earned three Latin Grammy awards, including Best Latin Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Song for “Déjenme Llorar.”
She also won 2016’s Best Alternative Song for “Vez Primera” and Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album for 2017’s Amor Supremo.
Most recently, Morrison released her latest single, “Obra de Arte,” on 6/17 and is preparing to release “Contigo” in August. Her forthcoming album, El Renacimiento, is slated for 2022.
“We are so honored that Carla has chosen UMPG as her home. Her self-confidence and captivating songwriting make her a unique voice in Latin Music and we warmly welcome her to our global family,” said Alexandra Lioutikoff, UMPG, President, Latin American and US Latin.
“I’m very excited about this new adventure together and look forward to growing with the new songwriters I'll be meeting soon and entire UMPG family I have joined. I’m so excited!” Added Morrison.
Over the last decade, Morrison has collaborated with artists like J Balvin, Ricky Martin, Nicky Jam, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, among others, and toured across the U.S., Latin America and Europe. She’s also performed at festivals like Coachella and the Vive Latino festival and is one of the few indie artists to have performed and sold-out Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional.
“Carla is a wonderful combination of confessional songwriting, freshness and authenticity. She is definitely one of a kind and to take care of her works is a real honor for all of us,” shared Yadira Moreno, UMPG, Managing Director, México and Central America/VP New Business Development, Latin American.
