SURFS UP WITH LEO SAYER
12/14/20

Award-winning singer/songwriter Leo Sayer is the latest to join the Primary Wave Music Publishing family, as the pubco has purchased a stake in Sayer’s music publishing catalog and master recordings.

Included in the acquisition are some of Sayer’s biggest hits like “Thunder In My Heart,” “Dreamin’,” “Long Tall Glasses,” “Orchard Road,” his Top 5 hit, “Moonlighting,” and the Grammy-winning single, “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing.

Sayer will also have access to the pubco’s entire marketing team and publishing infrastructure, which includes Film/TV and digital strategy teams, as well as their licensing and sync departments.

“At 72, my creative activities and ambitions remain undimmed, so I’m sure that together we’ll achieve and create even more success globally, not only with the music I’ve already made, but also with all the ideas still to come,” shared Sayer.

“We are thrilled to begin this partnership with the incredibly talented and legendary songwriter Leo Sayer,” added Adam Lowenberg, Primary Wave’s Chief Marketing Office. “We couldn’t be more excited to have him join the Primary Wave family and look forward to a long partnership.”

Sayer began his musical journey as the front man of the London-based Terraplane Blues Band in the late 1960s before forming a creative partnership with David Country in the ‘70s. Sayer’s Endless Flight, released in 1976, became his biggest record in both the U.S. and the U.K. and featured #1 singles “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” and “When I Need You.”

The agreement was brokered and facilitated by Clearwater Music's David Loiterton.
