SCMG/Interscope hip-hop sensation DaBaby has inked a global admin deal with Jody Gerson's UMPG.
“A talented artist and songwriter, DaBaby has garnered hundreds of millions of streams and amassed a huge global fanbase," Gerson declared in a statement. "With support from myself, our A&R team and Interscope Records, UMPG’s Ari Gelaw developed a close relationship with DaBaby and South Coast Music Group to build this exciting partnership. We are looking forward to many great years of success with DaBaby.”
The Charlotte, NC-bred rapper broke through in a viral way this year. His double-platinum "Suge" has garnered 248m streams so far. It spent 11 weeks on the Hot 100 chart and went #1 at both Urban and Rhythm radio. Meanwhile, "Goin Baby" and "Baby Sitter," featuring Offset, have both racked up more than 90m streams each. At press time, his Spotify profile was pulling in 16m+ monthly listeners.
And his debut album, KIRK, bowed at #1 with 147k+ in its first week this September.
Seen wondering what's in da bottle are (L-R) South Coast Music Group CEO Arnold Taylor, UMPG Chairman/CEO Gerson, DaBaby, UMPG A&R Gelaw and Co-Head A&R Walter Jones. Whatever it is, we'll take a double.
