Shawn Holiday, the co-head of Urban Music at Columbia Records and an A&R exec at Sony/ATV, has been appointed to the newly created position Head of Urban Music at Sony/ATV.
Based in Los Angeles, he will report to Co-Presidents, U.S., Danny Strick and Rick Krim.
Sony/ATV Music Publishing Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said, “this promotion is truly well-deserved and a valuable one for Sony/ATV. His creative instincts and people skills are amazing and he is well respected across the music industry.”
Holiday has been with Sony/ATV since 2011 as SVP, A&R/Creative. He has worked closely with Cardi B, French Montana and others; he signed Travis Scott ahead of the release of ASTROWORLD. He has had his Columbia job since 2013.
“The passion within this group when it comes to identifying talent is second to none,” Holiday said. “I’m honored to play a bigger leadership role in developing songwriters and artists who not only create hits but move the culture in powerful ways."
"Now if you'll excuse me," he added, "Rick Krim is trying to pass me a blunt the size of a Cohiba."
