And we’re back! 2024 opens with some great new tracks from major artists right out of the gate. The best part of that news is that we have new music to hit the airwaves at Top 40 in January, which doesn’t happen so often, and, of course, the battle for Most Added this week should be fun to watch. Nothing like starting the year off with a bang!

Columbia’s Gray, Burress, Bedard & Stevens are kicking things off with a new single from Lil Nas X entitled “J. Christ,” and it’s Nas in his truest form. Then there’s the story of Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” which is still very much breaking records after a solid year of airplay; it’s currently sitting atop the AC chart going for a record breaking 37thweek at #1. Nicely done! Big Red is looking to have major releases from all their artist during 2024 and we are here for it.

Interscope’s Romano & Lopes are impacting Reneé Rapp’s “Not My Fault” w/Megan Thee Stallion, which will be featured in the new Mean Girls movie that opened 1/12. The track is already Top 10 on Spotify’s Pop Rising playlist and pulled in 19 early adds prior to official impact on 1/16.

Meanwhile, Dave Dyer and crew start the year by securing 38 adds on Jung Kook & Usher’s “Standing Next to You” (Gef/Meg/gamma.-Interscope), which lands in the Top 10 Most Added this week. They’re off to a big early start.

Republic’s Spangler & Romeo are also starting off the year strong as Ariana Grande’s new single “yes, and?” drops this week. We checked in with some of the best ears in the business for their thoughts on the new track, and Audacy Assistant Brand Manager/B96’s Erik Bradley says, “Ari comes back with her signature powerhouse vocals over a track that feels quickly familiar, I am predicting another smash for AG to kick off 2024!” Republic also impacted Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” (Mercury) this week. The track is Top 10 Most Added with 53 adds, including Z100, WIHT,KDWB and WBLI, as well as #2 on Spotify’s U.S. chart. Nicki Minaj’s “Everybody” f/Lil Uzi Vert was #2 Most Added this week as it pulled in 66 adds out of the box. It also continues to climb Spotify U.S. chart and is now Top 30.

RCA’s Rothschild, Maldonado, JR & Daddio continue their hot streak as they remain atop the Pop chart for their 14th consecutive week. Tate McRae’s “greedy,” which is currently sitting on top of Spotify’s Global chart and Top 5 U.S., has been #1 for six consecutive chart weeks. They were also #1 Most Added this week with Tate’s “exes,” which secured 72 additional adds as it joins the Top 20 this week, while Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills” (Kemosabe) enters the Top 10. Debuting on the chart will be Victoria Monét’s “On My Mama” (Lovett Music).

Warner’s Chester & Reich put 19 close-out adds on Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” including KZHT, WKFS, KMXVand WRVQ, as it looks set to join the Top 15. The track is also #1 on Shazam Global and #2 U.S. Meanwhile, Dua Lipa’s “Houdini” looks to move Top 10 and Kenya Grace’s “Strangers” (Major) enters the Top 15.

Capitol’s Team Marella continues to build the story on Troye Sivan’s “One of Your Girls.” The track heads Top 30 with spin leaders including WKSC, Music Choice and WAPE, while the music video currently boasts 20m+ views.

Epic’s Sackheim & Dimig are starting the year with Tyla’s massive track “Water” (FAX). The single, which is Top 10 at both Shazam Global and U.S., is already #1 at Rhythm and Urban and now looks headed Top 10 at Pop with an almost closed-out panel. Believers include KHKS, WWWQ, KZZP and WFLZ. Meanwhile, Travis Scott’s “I KNOW?” (Cactus Jack) is Top 20 after a #1 run at Rhythm. And don’t blink, because 21 Savage’s “American Dream” drops 1/12.
