Four more reporting weeks? Yikes! The holidays are upon us and the end of the year is approaching fast. Lots of big records are set to drop before 2015’s close, and there are still a couple of surprises coming. Republic’s CW, Spangler and Russell have done it again: #1, #2 and #3. Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (Island) remains at the top of the chart for another week, Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” (Big Machine) is at #2 and Drake’s “Hotline Bling” (YMCMB) is moving up fast. Ariana Grande’s “Focus”—which debuted at #1 in 17 countries—moves up to #16 this week, is the #2 Greatest Gainer and is #3 at Saturday Night Online. DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” moves Top 25. Look for them as AMA presenters. Fall Out Boy’s “Irresistible” (DCD2/Island) jumps up to #32 this week with help from KDWB, WFLZKNOU and KZHT. The Weeknd’s “In the Night” (XO) should be one of the Most Added this week and already has Z100, KIIS, AMP L.A., and B96 all on board. Look for the global release of Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (Island) on 11/18.
Thanks to the joint venture between Republic and Hollywood’s Finck, Smith & Ennis, Demi Lovato’s “Confident” (Safehouse/Island/Hollywood) is now Top 15 and climbing. The Hollywood boys also have Andy Grammer’s “Good to Be Alive” (S-Curve) chartbound at Top 40 with the sales and streaming numbers all increasing weekly.
Epic’s Team Glassman are just about to move Meghan Trainor f/John Legend’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” Top 10. It’s once again a Greatest Gainer, as it moves into power rotation everywhere, including iHeart PC; B96, WIOQ and WAKS are all new. Zara Larsson’s “Lush Life” is bubbling just under and looking to chart, as the video reaches 20m views. Travi$ Scott’s “Antidote” (Grand Hustle) has pulled in some impressive “prior to impact” adds from KKHH and Power 96.
Capitol’s Rainey, Youngblood & Siciliano move 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Hey Everybody” Top 25 after just five weeks with big spin increases from KXXM, WQEN and KMVQ. Halsey’s “New Americana” (Astralwerks) pulled in SiriusXM’s Hits 1, WAPE and KBFF last week, as the track moves to #33. Tori Kelly’s “Hollow” is off to a great start. With 68 stations on board already, the track should chart quickly.
Warner Bros.’ Gray, Dyer, Reich and Shih are impacting Adam Lambert’s “Another Lonely Night” this week, and WKSC, WFLC, WPOI and WBLI are already on the board; should be a big week! Nico & Vinz f/Bebe Rexha’s “That’s How You Know,” which is #34 on the chart, pulled in new airplay from WIOQ and WYKS last week.
Artbeatz/RED’s Buch, Halpern & Weil keep pulling in major markets on Daya’s “Hideaway,” as it gets set to make the Top 20 move; new adds this week include KIIS and Z100. WZPL Operations Manager J.R. Ammons says, "ZPL is almost 800 spins in on ‘Hide Away’ and, week by week, it gets stronger and stronger. Every indicator I look to says Daya is a monster in callout, single sales & Shazam numbers." Nelly f/Jeremih’s “The Fix” (RAL) charted this week, moving from #43-36; new stations include WHBQ, WKFS and WNCI. Shaggy f/Pitbull’s “Only Love” also charted. The track also passed the 10m streams mark.
Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris & Vaughan have a runaway smash in Adele’s “Hello” (XL). We’re told that the callout numbers—along with the iTunes and social numbers—on this multi-format hit are off the chart! One Direction’s “Perfect” (SYCO) is heading toward the Top 20. Look for them on GMA, Ellen, Kimmel and the AMAs in the next few days. The Chainsmokers f/Rozes’ “Roses” moves up to #27 this week, pulling in KSLZ, WNVZ and WURV2. Rachel Platten’s “Stand by You,” meanwhile, is moving closer to the chart this week; spin increases from WJIM, WKSE and WNOK are already on the board.
Over at Def Jam, Sackheim, Rothschild & Farag continue to move Alessia Cara’s “Here” up the chart. The track is currently Top 10 and, based on some terrific callout, now in power at XHTZ, WODS, WNKS and WPOI. Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” (RBMG) has moved Top 15 just four weeks after impact and shows no signs of slowing down as his album takes over the sales charts this week.
RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio, Cooper & Strazza have Elle King’s “Ex’s and Oh’s” in the Top 10 at Mediabase, #4 on the U.S. Shazam chart and #6 on the iTunes singles chart this week. Pentatonix’s “Can’t Sleep Love” debuted on the chart and pulled in adds from WKSS, WHQC, KCHZ and WPRO this week, as the album continues to hang near the top of the sales chart. Look for their performance on the AMAs as well. Sia’s “Alive” (Monkey Puzzle) is on 75+ Pop stations, and new adds include KISS 108, WFHN and WHHD. By the way, the single sales on that one soared after her SNL performance last week. Chris Brown’s “Zero” is looking to chart, pulling in WBMP, WZFT, WJHM and WNRW this week. As the track starts to react early, Tinashe f/Chris Brown’s “Player” pulled in KIIS, KAMP, WKQI and KZON.
MUSIC WE LOVE: The Weeknd’s “In the Night” (XO/Republic), Post Malone’s “White Iverson” (Republic).
SOLO PERFORMANCE: After the iHeart Fiesta in Miami, red Solo cups are raised to toast Pitbull. For the record, Mark Medina is drinking rum, Marissa Morris is quaffing vodka, John Sykes nurses a single malt, Tom Poleman has a Bulleit and ginger and Rob Miller enjoys something he called a “Virgin Fireball.” Later, everyone woke up with a spray tan.
