Taylor for President!!! Well, at this point, it sounds like a great idea to me. I mean, not only did she take the big bite out of the “Apple,” but she just broke the Mediabase record for fastest single to hit the top of the Pop Chart. “Bad Blood” f/Kendrick Lamar went soaring to the top in just 5 weeks. Pretty damn impressive week for Ms. Swift. Republic’s CW, Spangler and Russell also have the #1 Greatest Gainer in The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” as it moves all the way to #17 this week. Nicki Minaj’s “The Night Is Still Young” (YMCMB) climbs to #13; the video has pulled in 20m+ views to date. There‘s a new uptempo mix of Jessie J’s “Flashlight” (Lava) available, and early leaders include KYLD and WNKS. WFLZ moves to power this week with Fall Out Boy’s “Uma Thurman” (DCD2/Island); a ton of other majors are moving into sub power, as this track starts to really heat up.
Hollywood’s Finck, Smith and Ennis scored a #1 at Hot AC this week with Andy Grammer’s “Honey, I’m Good” (S-Curve). On the Pop side of things, WNKS, WIHT, WKSC and KKDM just bumped up rotations, as it continues to grow inside the Top 10.
Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris and Vaughan are definitely hitting a hot streak, as Rachel Patten’s “Fight Song” heads Top 20 this week. With the help of Cumulus, they should be nearing the Top 10 very quickly. With Rachel and OMI’s “Cheerleader” (Ultra) bouncing back and forth in the #1 and 2 positions at iTunes, all the airplay they’re pulling in is translating to sales. MKTO is ready to pounce on the chart with 50+ stations already on board. Prior to impact (7/14) Little Mix’s “Black Magic” (SYCO) is pulling in early believers, while lighting up the phones and social media.
Capitol’s Reese, Rainey Youngblood and Siciliano have two tracks ready to join the Top 30 with Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time” (MCA Nashville) and Tori Kelly’s “Should Have Been Us”; both are coming off Most Added weeks and look to be setup for success. Sam Smith’s “Like I Can” gains new believers in KLUC, KBBF and KMXV and moves up to #38.
Warner Bros.’ Gray, Dyer, Reich and Shih pulled in the most adds ever on a new artist debut track last week with Kaya Stewart’s “In Love With a Boy,” and it’s already chartbound for next week. Adam Lambert drew in a huge crowd for his GMA performance of “Ghost”; the track has climbed to #28.
RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio, Cooper and Strazza have had great success with Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance.” As it sits at #2, it continues to grow in spins and deserves a #1. Sia’s “Elastic Heart” (Monkey Puzzle) is #1 at RTM this week and pulled in big adds from KDWB, KBKS and KXXM. Pitbull f/Chris Brown’s “Fun” (Mr.305/Polo Grounds) is set to move Top 20 and is on over 120 stations with new rotations at KYLD, WRNW and WIHT. Prince Royce f/Pitbull & Jennifer Lopez’s “Back It Up” was in the Most Added column last week and is edging closer to the chart. Pictured below is JR with B96’s Eric Bradley and Walk the Moon at this weekend’s BBash.
Epic’s Team Glassman is extremely happy with the action on Meghan Trainor f/John Legend’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.” WRVW, KLUC, KUDD and WDZH are already on the board for what looks like a Most Added week on impact. Jidenna’s “Classic Man” (Wondaland) debuted this week and Y100 is already on the board. Fifth Harmony f/Kid Ink’s “Worth It” (SYCO) moves up inside the Top 10, while Cumulus moves to power rotation; it’s set for a Top 5 move.
Def Jam’s Sackheim, Rothchild and Farag picked up WZFT, WXSS, WKSC and WRVQ with Jeremih f/Flo Rida’s “Tonight Belongs to U,” as it moves to #35 this week. Look for big action on two tracks headed your way: Alessia Cara’s “Here” and Afrojack f/Mike Taylor’s “Summer Thing.” Both impact on 7/13.
Team Palmese has pulled in a very impressive list of adds on impact week for Global Entertainment’s first release, Nathan Sykes’ “Kiss Me Quick.” Venus, KDIS, B96, KDWB, Y100 and KMVQ are just a few of the 30+ adds on the board already; this one is off to the races.
MUSIC WE LOVE: Afrojack f/Mike Taylor’s “Summer Thing” (Def Jam), Avicii’s “Waiting for Love” (Island).
