Robin Ch’i has been named managing director of Warner Music Hong Kong, a position he will assume immediately.
He takes the reins from Gordon Lee, who had filled the role since 2003. The two-decade industry vet will report to Simon Robson, who will oversee Warner Music Group’s recorded business in the APAC region until a permanent appointee is chosen. Gordon’s tenure was marked by notable financial growth, with the company expanding its revenue by 2.5x in the last five years.
Ch’I steps up from the label side of the business, having spent 15 years in A&R for the label group, preceded by four years at Warner Chappell Music.
Robson said, “Gordon’s impact on the music industry is significant, and we are thankful for his dedication. We are sure that Robin will lead the company with the same passion and commitment, ensuring we continue to support artists and innovate in this dynamic industry.”
Ch’I added “I look forward to building on Gordon’s incredible legacy and continuing to support our talented artists as they pursue their dreams.”
Lee will remain on the WMG staff until the end of March to ensure a smooth transition.
