CONCLAVE LEADS BAFTA NOMS, UNIVERSAL TOPS STUDIOS

BAFTA voters have blessed Conclave with 12 nominations, making the papal succession drama the leading contender for this year’s awards.

The Focus Features project got nods for best film, outstanding British film, best director for Oscar-winner Edward Berger, leading actor for Ralph Fiennes and supporting actress for Isabella Rossellini.

Netflix’s Emilia Perez followed close behind with 11 nominations, including nods for all three main actresses, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña. Jacques Audiard notched three noms for the Spanish-language film, including best director, adapted screenplay and best film not in the English language.

Universal garnered 32 mentions, led by The Brutalist (nine) and Wicked (seven), ithe latter ncluding nods for both Cynthia Erivo (lead actress) and Ariana Grande (supporting actress).
