Verve is putting a modern spin on an old-school concept with the Verve Record Club, a premium vinyl subscription service focused on iconic jazz recordings from the label group’s catalog.
The club will launch in February with a reissue of the 1962 classic John Coltrane Quartette: Coltrane. Like all of the club’s offerings, the album will be crafted from analog sources, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and packaged in numbered, tip-on jackets. All offerings will be pressed in limited editions of 2,500.
John Pinder, VP of revenue and consumer acquisition for Verve Label Group, said, “This is more than a subscription service; it’s an entryway into the heart of jazz history. With the Verve Record Club, we’re inviting fans to rediscover these extraordinary recordings in a way that honors their artistry and legacy, with the highest quality sound and presentation.”
“Jazz vinyl collecting has never been more vibrant," added Ken Druker, SVP, jazz development, VLG. “We’re thrilled to bring these classics, and some hidden gems, back to life with an exhaustive attention to detail. It’s an exciting time for jazz fans everywhere.”
Further monthly releases from the club will include titles by Nina Simone, Louis Armstrong, Bill Evans, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz and Billie Holiday.
