SZA has announced that her long-anticipated Lana (the deluxe reissue of 2022's SOS) will arrive on Friday, 12/20. The Top Dawg/RCA chanteuse revealed the news via Instagram with a little help from Ben Stiller, who stars in the upcoming video for "Drive."
The two appear to have become friends after she tweeted about how badly she wanted a second season of Stiller's show Severance and got a response from the veteran actor. SZA's wish was granted and, as she noted in the Insta caption, the second season arrives 1/17.
SOS entered the chart at #1 with more than 318k in its opening week. It spawned five Top 10 hits, including "Kill Bill," which became SZA's first chart-topping single. Guests included Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers and Travis Scott. Nominated for nine Grammys, the album won the trophy for Best Progressive R&B Album.
As for Lana, the project has been in the works for over two years. SZA has described it as “a whole other album” packed with outtakes and new tracks. Its debut precedes her opening slot on Kendrick Lamar's Grand National Tour, which begins in April. Produced by Live Nation, pgLang and TDE, the trek will hit major markets like Atlanta, New York and L.A. before concluding 6/18 in Washington, D.C.
