Mariah Carey will vanquish all challengers to her Queen of Christmas title with a 30th anniversary commemoration of her hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You" and the Merry Christmas album from whence it came (upon a midnight clear).
To mark the occasion especially beloved by Columbia Records, Carey has dropped CD, cassette and 7- and 12-inch maxi singles of "All I Want" featuring festive bonus tracks.
Meanwhile, the Digital Deluxe Anniversary Edition of Merry Christmas boasts remastered songs from Mimi's 1994 St. John the Divine concert, including “Hero” (streaming for the first time), and the “Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)” video rendition.
Other Merry Christmas iterations will be released 12/13, among them a zoetrope vinyl pressing with animated visual effects, a two-LP Deluxe Edition bolstered by a 24-page booklet chronicling Carey's Christmas journey, a Christmas card and more we're too exhausted to enumerate.
Originally released in 1994, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has been certified 16-times platinum, making it the most-certified single by a female artist. It's currently #1 on the Holiday 100 chart and in the Top 10 of the Hot 100. It's also #6 on Spotify U.S. and #7 at Apple Music.
Carey's sold-out Christmas Time Tour, produced by Live Nation, is in full swing; it will hit 21 cities before coming to rest 12/17 in NYC.
