SME Middle East has signed a far-reaching deal with “the father of Mediterranean music," Egyptian artist Amr Diab.
The agreement covers Diab's catalog and includes a forward-looking multi-album provision that will extend his global reach even further.
Over a four-decade career that has seen "El Hadaba"—"The Hill," a nickname conferring great respect—perform primarily in Arabic but also English and French, Diab has racked up five platinum records, six African Music Awards and seven World Music Awards, the last of which also earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Diab (pictured at right) said, “I'm thrilled to start this new chapter of my music career with Sony Music. Their commitment to nurturing artistic growth aligns with my vision for the future of my music. Stay tuned for innovations coming your way!”
Rami Mohsen, managing director of SME Middle East, added, “This strategic partnership with Amr will introduce his unique sound to broader audiences and underscores our commitment to fostering exceptional talent and creative excellence around the globe.”
