THE NEW ATLANTIC COMES OUT BLAZING WITH “APT.”

ROSÉ’s “APT.” f/Bruno Mars is simply massive.

The Atlantic rocket, now sitting at #1 on Spotify’s global and USA Top 50 charts, keeps gaining altitude. The cut notched an astounding 14m worldwide Spotify streams on Monday (10/21), typically a low-stream-count day. In the five days it’s been out, it has amassed 85m+ streams on the platform. Not only did it open with a bang on a Friday, it increased all weekend and stayed strong in the ensuing days.

The #2 song at present is “Die With a Smile,” Lady Gaga’s duet with Bruno (via Interscope); the two monsters together gave the Atlantic MVP 25m Spotify streams in a single day. We note that “Die” is the Spot’s most recent weekly champ, with 70m+ worldwide streams for the week of 10/17 as it nears the 700m mark at the streamery overall.

What’s more, the song is the rising tide that’s lifting kindred boats, such as two of ROSÉ’s fellow BLACKPINK alumni, JENNIE (Columbia), which has flown to #8, and LISA (RCA, #12) and even some Bruno catalog. (Jimin’s “Who,” via BIGHIT/Geffen, was already gigantic; it’s currently #5).

That said, ROSÉ has been pretty emphatic that the music she’s making isn’t K-pop. “APT.” certainly isn’t acting like most K-pop in terms of streaming, and its propulsive, playful energy makes it feel more like a cross between “Hey Ya” and a booze-up in a Seoul party pad.

How much will this single grow? We’re thinking a lot. Stay tuned.
