The $2b Intuit Dome, the new home of the L.A.Clippers, opened its doors Thursday night (8/15), with Bruno Mars headlining its inaugural concert.
Following a delay due to technical issues, Mars delivered a robust set featuring hits including "24k Magic," "Finesse" and "Locked Out of Heaven." As we hinted yesterday, he also surprised fans by bringing out Lady Gaga to perform their new duet, "Die With a Smile" (Interscope), for the first time.
It was the first of two scheduled performances there by Mars, with the second to take place tonight. The setting was certainly apropos—before he made it big, Mars paid his bills playing poker at nearby Hollywood Park Casino.
The Intuit Dome, located in Inglewood, has a capacity of nearly 18,000 and is poised to become a key venue in the region.
Upcoming events at the arena include shows by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco on 8/17, Marco Antonio Solis on 8/18 and Olivia Rodrigo 8/20-21, the latter staging a six-night run at the venue. The fall lineup features Slipknot 9/13-14, Usher 9/21-22 & 24-25, Weezer on 10/11 and Billy Joel on 10/12.
