U.K. MIDWEEKS: BLUR VS. GHOST

Blur and Ghost are battling it out with live collections for the week’s U.K. Official Albums #1. On the singles roundup, Sabrina Carpenter is poised to remain at the top.

Blur’s Live at Wembley Stadium (Parlophone) is leading the album race at today’s midweek mark. Recorded on two nights at the iconic London venue in July 2023, the set precedes an accompanying concert film of the same name, due in theaters 9/6.

Swedish metal outfit Ghost are hot on Blur’s heels with Rite Here Rite Now (Loma Vista). It also happens to be the soundtrack to their concert film of the same name, which was recorded at the Forum in Los Angeles last September.

British singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins could have his first Top 5 album with hi, my name is insecure. (Island), which starts at #5 today.

Following its reissue as a multi-format super-deluxe edition, The Police’s fifth and final album, Synchronicity (A&M Records), is fixing to return to the Top 10 for the first time in 41 years. It’s expected to re-enter at #9, four decades after debuting at #1 upon its original release.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” (Island) is on track to remain at #1 for a fifth nonconsecutive week. Her “Espresso” is expected to rebound two spots to #7.

However, Chappell Roan is a close competitor for the top spot, with “Good Luck, Babe!” (Island) sitting less than 1.3k in chart sales behind at #2. “Stargazing” (RCA) by Myles Smith is set to jump to a new peak of #3.

Dasha’s “Austin” (Warner Records) could rise three to #5 on Friday, while “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (American Dogwood/Empire) by Shaboozey is up three to #8 midweek.

“Kisses” (Atlantic) by BL3SS, CamrinWatsin and bbyclose is projected to ascend four to #9. “Angel of My Dreams” (RCA) by JADE is looking at a second week in the Top 10, at #10.
