SOUNDCLOUD’S BUZZING

SoundCloud is expanding its Buzzing Playlists with the addition of three new genre offerings: Rock, Indie and Metal.

Designed to address the “zero-plays problem,” the genre-specific playlists—updated daily—feature tracks selected based on fan engagement. SoundCloud's First Fans recommendation algorithm has analyzed over 4.8m tracks and recommended them to potential new fans, a 37% increase since its introduction in April.

Nearly 20% of the tracks featured in Buzzing Playlists have been promoted to Trending Playlists, which attract many more listeners, while nearly half the tracks featured in Buzzing Hip Hop & Rap have been added to SoundCloud’s Trending Hip Hop & Rap Playlist.
