HITS Daily Double

As we attempt to reorganize our boiling brains after a disorienting midweek 4th of July holiday and prepare to plunge headlong into Grammy mania, one thing is abundantly clear: White donut peaches have hit the market and are absolutely delightful. Rainier cherries are bursting with robust, juicy flavor and (as was pointed out by my partner, Dennis) watermelon is full-bodied and dazzlingly sweet. What’s more, summer corn is close to the sun-kissed perfection typically reserved for August. With each passing day, our senses are enlivened by new varieties of nature’s bounty.

Concurrently, the beginning of July is turning thoughts and prognostications to the fall Grammy season. We’ve kicked off our coverage with an overview from the esteemed Craig Marks. And as Dr. Simon Glickman and I prepare to pen endless Chews on the subject, one fact is undeniable: Women will dominate the conversation as the most formidable contenders once again this year.

Beyoncé, Taylor, Billie, Ariana, Doja, Sabrina, SZA, Chappell et al. have delivered and delighted. And while Hozier, Kendrick, Future, Post, Zach, Benson and others will all be discussed as worthy, female artists will be hard to beat, especially in the Big 4.

For now, we suggest you start catching up on the great music abounding this Grammy season. To those whose deserving work hasn't been mentioned here yet, never fear—we will get to you; everyone will be considered. Let the Grammy harvest begin.

And pass the Rainier cherries.
