WETZEL READY FOR NEW HEIGHTS WITH "SWEET DREAMS"

Columbia’s Koe Wetzel is off to a hot start with his latest single, “Sweet Dreams.” The alt-rock ballad shows even more depth in the Pittsburgh, Texas, native’s sound, which has blurred the lines between red dirt, grunge, R&B and hip-hop.

Fans approve of the singer-songwriter’s new emotional rock cut, which soared to #25 on Apple Music in its opening weekend. Wetzel collaborated with hit songwriters Amy Allen and Sam Harris alongside producer Gabe Simon on “Sweet Dreams” to offer a vulnerable side that shows he’s not just about “sex, drugs and rock & roll,” as he puts it. “Sweet Dreams” also has action at TikTok, where it’s already amassed 30k+ creations.

The breaking song sets up Wetzel’s forthcoming album, 9 Lives, due 7/19. Previous pre-album track “Damn Near Normal” is also charting in the Top 200 at Apple Music—9 Lives is currently #1 on Apple's country chart with only three songs out.

While country-adjacent breakouts continue to make waves at DSPs, Wetzel isn’t new to the scene. Before signing to Columbia in 2020, Wetzel developed a large following independently in the red dirt genre. All signs point to a commercial elevation for Wetzel this summer.
