The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its 2024 inductees; Peter Frampton, Mary J. Blige, Cher, the Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest will be honored in the performers category, along with Alexis Korner, John Mayall and Big Mama Thornton for Musical Influence and Jimmy Buffett, the MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield for Musical Excellence. Former Motown exec Suzanne de Passe will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
“Rock & Roll is an ever-evolving amalgam of sounds that impacts culture and moves generations,” reads a quote from RRHOF Foundation Chairman John Sykes. “This diverse group of inductees each broke down musical barriers and influenced countless artists who followed in their footsteps. Now who took my Big Muff distortion pedal?”
The 2024 inductees were announced live during the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night” episode of ABC's American Idol by Ryan Seacrest and Rock Hall inductee Lionel Richie. The show presented the Top 14 finalists tackling songs by previous inductees.
This year’s induction ceremony will take place 10/19 in Cleveland at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Ticket information will be announced at a later date. For more information about the inductees, head here. We are shredding on air guitar in solidarity.
