Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER (Parkwood/Columbia) saddles up atop the iTunes albums chart and in the #1 position at Apple Music this Flipover Friday. The artist's first country album, it’s one of five new country arrivals in the iTunes Top 10.
Packed with such guests as Willie Nelson, Post Malone and Willie Jones, the 27-track COWBOY CARTER is also making an impact on the songs charts; Beyoncé’s collab with Miley Cyrus, “II MOST WANTED,” is #1 at iTunes songs, followed by “JOLENE” at #2. In total, Beyoncé has 14 songs in the iTunes Top 30. At Apple Music songs, “American Requiem” and her covers of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Lennon & McCartney’s “Blackbird” have started to work their way up the chart.
New country albums are having a major impact on the iTunes chart today. Aaron Lewis’ The Hill (BMLG) climbs to #2, Joe Diffie & HIXTAPE's Hixtape, Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE (Big Loud), a posthumous collection of duets, sits at #5, Kenny Chesney’s Born (Blue Chair/Warner Nashville) pops in at #8 and Dylan Scott’s Livin’ My Best Life (Still) (Curb) nabs #9. On the singles side, Back Blocks' hot indie prospect, Tucker Wetmore, makes the Top 10 with "Wind Up Missing You."
Meanwhile, j-hope’s six-song Hope on the Street Vol. 1 (BIGHIT) parks at #3. Two of the album’s songs are in the iTunes Top 10: “Neuron” at #7 and “I wonder… ” at #8. The other four are in the Top 20.
Sum 41’s Heaven :x: Hell (Rise) sits at #4, followed by Sheryl Crow’s Evolution (Old Green Barn/Valory/BMLG) at #8.
Mgk & Trippie Redd’s genre: sadboy EP (10K/EST19XX/Interscope) is the only other album beyond COWBOY CARTER to land in the Top 20 on the streaming and sales charts; it’s #5 at iTunes and #20 at Apple Music.
