WEEZER VOYAGES TO THE BLUE PLANET

Weezer will embark this spring on its Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour celebrating 30 years of the Blue Album. North American support for the Crush-repped outfit will come courtesy of fellow alt darlings Dinosaur Jr. and the Flaming Lips on select dates, while Smashing Pumpkins and Teen Mortgage will join it overseas. The Rivers Cuomo-fronted group will play the Blue Album in its entirety along with fan favorites and rarities.

Following a performance at the Lodge Room with Dogstar in L.A. on 3/15 to celebrate the tour announcement and a couple festival one-offs, the overseas leg kicks off 6/7 in Birmingham, England, at the Utilita Arena before wrapping up 6/14 in Cardiff. The North American run picks up 9/4 in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Center and culminates 10/11 at Ingelwood's Intuit Dome. General onsale begins at 10am PT on Friday (3/15) via Ticketmaster.

The Blue Album, released on DGC Records in 1994, served as Weezer's debut project. Produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars, the 10-track effort included hits like "Buddy Holly," "Undone — The Sweater Song" and "My Name Is Jonas." It peaked at #16 and has since been certified triple platinum. We can't believe it's been 30 years and we're still here. Say it ain't so.
